R.E.M. Announce North American Tour

I’m not sure what the name of the album is they’ll be supporting on this tour, but judging from the size of the venues, I guess they’re planning on it being a big hit. I’m all for big hits, but why do they have to play the Hollywood Bowl? Why? I’m so not going (unless I’m really close to the front).

  1. they’ve been recording this album in Vancouver for a while now, Michael Stipe even mentioning how much he loves this city in a recent interview, plus that surprise in-store performance recently, and yet, they completely skip Vancity on their tour! it makes no sense!

  2. I get a little satisfaction from the fact that we posted this before NME did. Oh, happy day.

BTW, I knew that they had been recording the album. It just seemed a bit strange that there haven’t been a lot of details about the album and they announce an extensive tour.

  3. I’m pretty sure the official word is that the New Album won’t hit until 2004, but they’re aiming to be putting out a Greatest Hits package with 3-4 new songs for the Holidays….I’m pretty sure that’s what they’re planning on touring behind.

  4. sorry, i guess i was a little excited. not that i’d even go unless i have a great seat, or if someone has a great seat and lets me use their stub during wilco. 🙂
