🎵 There was a challenge posed to me today to assemble a playlist of only 20 songs that truly represent my musical point-of-view. This was really difficult, I want to keep adding and taking tracks away, but here’s where I landed. What about you?

Also, I'm going to steal this. This sounds super hard. I'm also not looking at anyone else's until I do mine ;-)

This reminds me of the old Tower Record’s desert island playlist. I remember that it was really hard, partly because my favorite songs tend to change depending on the mood I am in.

@jalvani exactly. You CAN NOT look at others before you do yours. Please link me when you do it though.

@RianVDM thanks! Glad you like it. Please do it and post a link. It took me about 2 hours.

@klandwehr yep, exactly! My list wasn't necessarily my favorite songs. They were songs that, when I really thought back, were the ones that had a huge impact on the music I now seek out and listen to. Are you going to participate? It's a cruel, yet fun challenge.

sounds like Desert Island Disks ... and so for the same reason I find this difficult because I have never been a songs / tracks guy .... always an albums guy ... by the time I had graduated I still had never bought a single ... though my album collection was in the 3 box range.
Example ... how can you choose one track off (say) Dark Side .... you can’t ... none of them make a ‘greatest songs’ list ... but the album sits in my top 10.
On a side - but related note ... I often ask people I meet for the first time and the conversation is flagging to name the three bands and / or albums that define the soundtrack of their life ... you can learn a lot.

@JohnPhilpin YOU might not be able to choose one, but I think I can, at least in the context of this challenge. Let's say DSOTM was the first album I listened to the first time I took LSD (cliche, I know, but stay with me) and it was only when 'Breathe' came on my headphones that I felt like I understood Pink Floyd, even though up to that point Piper... defined the band in my mind. In this hypothetical example, I would choose 'Breathe' to go on my mix. Hopefully that makes sense.
Ok, I'll bite... so what are the three artist or albums that define the soundtrack of your life?

Yeah I think I am going to. Just created a queue in Google Music and it has forty six songs in it. This may take awhile 😂

@klandwehr awesome. Can't wait to enjoy your list of 20. ONLY 20. 😉

I’m going to do this too. But it’s going to be so damn difficult. Rockit and Range Life would definitely be on mine though :)

well that started a whole track in my mind and eventually I had to write a post ... in fact a post that introduced a new concept on blottings ... a living post .... read on

@herself clearly you and I are kindred spirits! Those are some good overlaps. Looking forward to listening to yours!

@JohnPhilpin love that you dodged the original assignment, Mr. Album Guy, by posting on your blog 😉

no dodging - just questioning - thinking - redefining .... I should have been a lawyer!

There was a challenge put out by to list your twenty songs that represent your musical viewpoints. First to state the obvious this was hard to do. I started to think about my musical journey through my life. Through this thought process this is the playlist I came up with My Favorite Playlist on YouTube. I did link to both Spotify and Youtube, because one of the songs is sung by a folk group from the early 60's called the Womenfolk and they are not on Spotify. Also I realized that although I listen and love classical music and instrumental jazz, I don't know the names of the songs this is something I need to work on.

@klandwehr I’m very much looking forward to listening. So happy the challenge inspired you.
