You will ask Google before asking dumb questions. According to Jason, it’s the new RTFM.
Pitchfork Genius
If you don’t read Pitchfork, this isn’t gonna make much sense, but some genius came up with a formula to be favorably judged by the Pitchfork staff. I mean, the chances of this really working are slim to none…or are they? This guy came up with some pretty damn good songs as part of the project. I love the Internet Super Freeway. [via TMN]
Finding Memo
For those of you sad sad people that don’t watch (or TiVo) The Daily Show, please watch this segment (also available on The Daily Show web site - just click on the ‘Finding Memo’ link), as it’s one of the better ones. I must say that last night’s Back In Black and the appearance by, and subsequent torturing of Jennifer Love Hewitt made paying for basic cable totally worth it.
A Review Of The 50 Coolest Song Moments
Okay, granted when the drum solo kicks in on Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight,” I cannot fight the urge to bang on my steering wheel (or whatever happens to be near by), but it’s far from the coolest song moment. I have to hand it to retroCRUSH for even attempting such a list, and I’ll even give them credit for picking some good albums and great songs. I have a problem with many of their choices, so let’s get to a couple of them.
#25 Picking the best Jimi Hendrix song (off any album) is a little easier than picking the best Led Zeppelin or Stones song, but that’s not saying much, is it? “Purple Haze” is the cop-out choice. It’s the opening track, and while opening tracks can be the best (see below), in the case of Are You Experienced by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, it’s the last
#29 The Replacements’ “Alex Chilton” (from Pleased To Meet Me) may be a better song, but you cannot beat the opening moment of “I.O.U.” with Paul’s underlying guitar starting off in the left speaker, the drums kick in and the song starts. I remember when I heard this album for the first time. The opening track got me hooked. It was the first Mats album I owned.
Get On The O.C.
Yeah, I have a season pass on the TiVo. It’s a guilty pleasure. The music on the show is the best on TV, hands down. I ain’t kiddin’. When I saw the tracklisting for the first Music From The O.C. - Mix 1, it read like a mix I would make. So, Alexandra is looking for new cool music. Got a band? Want to be on The O.C.? Check it.
Morrissey Fans Don't Like Bush
He wished it were Bush, not Reagan.
Road Trip Iraq
While I sweat over the fact that I have to drive across town because of how much gas it will take, Iraqis are paying $0.05/gallon at the pumps. No, I’m not kidding.
Boosting Kerry
In hopes to get Kerry in and Bush out, my brother is helping out the Kerry campaign. Perhaps you should too.
Helping Him Get An iPod
This is geeky. Please disregard. Nigritude Ultramarine.
